androidapplications

I was wondering if there is any way besides implementing Googles API's
for use of Google Calendar and other Applications. I noticed if you
open the emulator and go to the home screen then select dev tools.
Under the dev tools if you go to package browser there is a
com.google.android.googleapps package. Is this a package that can be
used to hook up with Google services and I just can't find any
documentation on it or is it for something else?
